Early changes in the face and neck can now be treated with a procedure that maximizes results while minimizing recovery. A mini-facelift uses the same principles involved in a full facelift but targets the specific needs of today’s active lifestyle.
Are you a candidate for a mini-facelift?
If you have prominent jowls, loss of a refined jawline, or loose skin in the neck – a mini-facelift may be perfect for you. Also, some patients who have had a prior facelift many years ago are candidates for a ‘touch-up’ facelift using the mini-lift approach. A facelift cannot stop aging, but what it can do is help your face look its best and give you a look of health and a more youthful appearance. A side benefit is that many patients experience increased self-confidence.
The surgical procedure
A mini-facelift (or MACS-lift, as it is also known), utilizes a shorter incision that is hidden around the ear, but otherwise provides the same long-lasting results of a full facelift.
The deeper tissues of the face are approached through small incisions, and these layers are tightened. After trimming excess skin the incisions are closed with fine sutures, often combined with surgical clips which permit surgery without shaving hair from the incision site. The procedure is performed with a combination of mild sedatives, local anesthesia, and a mild intravenous anesthesia, and there is little discomfort. Following the surgery, a dressing is placed to protect the face and apply mild pressure overnight.
Post operative expectations
Recovery from a mini-facelift is 3-5 days, with return to full activity by one week. This is a great option to quickly become the new, younger version of you!
